Seaboard Marine wishes to advise its valued customers the Costa Rican government has recently announced the implementation of a 13% Value Added Tax effective July 1, 2019.
The new tax will be applied to all services performed for Ocean Carriers when vessels arrive at Costa Rican ports to discharge and load containers. Seaboard Marine will increase the Costa Rica Terminal Handling Charge by $100 per container for shipments to Costa Rica, and $65 per container on shipments from Costa Rica.
The increase, effective July 28, 2019, will apply to both tariff rates and service contracts.
