Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers that the Panama Canal Authority recently announced the implementation of additional toll charges to sustain water levels and minimize impacts to customers.
Panama Canal Toll Surcharge
Effective March 1, 2020, the Panama Canal Toll Surcharge will be increased for all breakbulk cargo as follows:
Breakbulk | Previous Level | New Level | Increase |
---|---|---|---|
Weight/ Measure | $29.00 | $35.50 | $6.50 |

Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge
Due to changing rainfall patterns and historic low water levels at Gatun Lake, the Panama Canal Authority implemented a Freshwater Surcharge to sustain an operational level of water and provide reliability to customers while it implements a long-term solution to water. Effective March 1, 2020, a Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge will be applied on all full container loads (FCL):
Equipment Type | Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge |
---|---|
20 Foot Container | $50.00 |
40 Foot Container | 100.00 |
This charge shall be applied to all public tariff and service contract rates for Northbound and Southbound cargo.
As always, we thank you for your continued support.
