Seaboard Marine is an Essential Service Provider and Remains Open
Seaboard Marine continues to monitor the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of our employees and the expedited movement of your valued cargo is our top priority.
At this time, All Seaboard Marine office and cargo facilities, both in the United States and overseas, are open and functioning. Our vessel, terminal, and trucking/rail serves are operating normally to ensure the integrity of your supply chain.
Although neighboring cargo terminals have announced partial closures, our cargo terminal at PortMiami and the Jacintoport Terminal in Houston remain open seven days per week and are functioning normally. Not only are the Seaboard Marine facilities at PortMiami and the Port of Houston (Jacintoport Terminal) operating normally, all other terminals we call within the U.S. in Brooklyn, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Savannah are as well.
We are aware that many Latin American countries have announced border closings and/or quarantined cities. But in each case thus far, the borders remain open for the transport of cargo and supplies with manageable delays. National leaders and municipal officials largely recognize the importance of international trade and supply chains. Further, government and customs officials, throughout the Seaboard network, are available for clearance of cargo.
It is important to note, that although many U.S. and foreign leaders are declaring non-essential workers remain home, Seaboard Marine and the movement cargo are deemed essential. We are confident that will continue. Any change in status for vessels, terminals, trucking, rail, or offices will be reported by Seaboard Marine through our official channels of communication.
We continue to follow the guidance from international, federal, and local officials, including the WHO, CDC, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Customs and Border Protection. Most of our domestic and overseas employees are now either working from home or at alternate locations. Preventative measures are in place throughout our organization.
