Seaboard Marine wishes to remind its customers of regulations imposed by the Canadian government on inland weight rules on all cargo moving over the road in Quebec. During the thaw period, heavy vehicles traveling anywhere on the road network must reduce their loads to comply with the load limits set by the Vehicle Load and Size Limits Regulation.
The maximum cargo weight carried during the thaw period is as follows:
20’ Dry Container: 52,000 lbs (24,000 kgs) maximum cargo weight
40’ Dry Container: 52,000 lbs (24,000 kgs) maximum cargo weight
20′ Refrigerated Container: 48,000 lbs (22,000 kgs) maximum cargo weight
40’ Refrigerated Container: 48,000 lbs (22,000 kgs) maximum cargo weight
These weights are still subject to overweight charges; however, they are the absolute max to move to/from the area.

The Spring thaw period projected dates is as follows:
Monday, March 8, 2021 – Friday, May 21, 2021
Depending on weather conditions, these dates may be brought forward or pushed back.
