Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers of an increase to the Government Inspection Fees effective June 1, 2024.
These fees, mandated by the government, relate to cargo handling and fumigation procedures conducted during US Customs Inspections. Over the past three years, these charges have significantly increased.
Effective June 1, 2024, for all container loads where the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) performs an inspection on imported refrigerated containers, the following fees will apply:
1. When cargo remains in its initial container without rehandling or other manipulation of the cargo – $1350.00
2. When cargo must be moved from its initial container to another container for fumigation, but cargo does not have to be moved back into its initial container -$1350.00
3. When certain cargo must be segregated from the initial container, loaded into another container for fumigation, and moved back again to the initial container – $1,541.50
4. When cargo must be segregated into two separate containers and both containers are then fumigated – $1,891.50
If USDA requires further action, additional charges will apply.
As always, we thank you for your continued support.
Please note that all changes that do require a legal 30-day notice are correctly filed and announced in the respective Public Tariff. This advisory shows some of these changes as a courtesy to our valued customers. This published notice in no way replaces the application of the Public Tariff.
