Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers of Iota’s impact as we continue to monitor the storm.
Iota made landfall along Nicaragua’s coast as a Category 4 hurricane Monday night and has since weakened. Although tropical storm warnings have been lifted, flash flooding due to continued heavy rainfalls is still a concern throughout much of Central America.
Our offices in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaragua are open today.
Vessel activity in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, was suspended this morning but is expected to resume later today. The port terminal is open and operational for container dispatch and receipt. Customs services are available for clearance.
Ships are not allowed to berth today at the port in Santo Tomas, Guatemala but vessel operations are expected to resume tomorrow.
Trucking operations between El Salvador and Santo Tomas, Guatemala, are suspended due to flooded roadways. We will continue to provide updates as developments occur.
The safety of our staff, crews, vessels, and our customer’s cargo is of high importance.
We appreciate the patience and support of our customers during this active 2020 Hurricane Season.
