Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers and partners of Iota’s impact to our operations.
Iota made landfall along Nicaragua’s coast as a Category 4 hurricane Monday night. Although the storm’s winds have dissipated, severe flooding due to heavy rainfalls is still a concern throughout much of Central America.
Our offices in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala are open today. The port in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, resumed full operations, including both vessel and gate activity, last night. The M/V Seaboard Atlantic discharged all of its containers at Puerto Cortes early this morning. The port in Santo Tomas, Guatemala, is operational for vessel activity; however, the road to and from the port is closed and undergoing repairs. Trucking operations in Central America are improving but limited as many bridges and roads, especially in Guatemala and El Salvador, are not passable due to flooding.
The safety of our staff, crews, vessels, and customer’s cargo is of high importance.
We appreciate the patience and support of our customers during this active 2020 Hurricane Season.
