Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers that we are actively monitoring Hurricane Ida as it moves towards the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Our office in George Town, Grand Cayman, reopened at 8:00 AM this morning. The port remains closed while weather conditions are being monitored. Instead of continuing its voyage, the Seaboard Sun voyage 1162 remains in Kingston, Jamaica today, August 27. The vessel is now expected to service Grand Cayman on Sunday, August 29.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for New Orleans. The port of New Orleans is now under U.S. Coast Guard imposed readiness condition X-Ray, indicating that all terminal operators should accelerate preparations. Our New Orleans facility is operating normally today but will likely be closed this weekend as Ida approaches. The M/V A/S Petulia voyage 50 will not call New Orleans as scheduled due to the storm’s projected path and will instead proceed to Puerto Cortes, Honduras, expected to arrive Monday, August 30, and Santo Tomas, Guatemala, on August 31. Import cargo scheduled for discharge in New Orleans will remain onboard to transship via another vessel.
As Hurricane Ida’s path evolves, we will continue to monitor and provide updates as developments occur.
The safety of our staff, crews, vessels, and our customer’s cargo is of the utmost importance.
We appreciate the patience and support of our customers during the 2021 Hurricane Season.
