Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers we are tracking Tropical Storm Zeta as it moves along the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula towards the U.S. Gulf Coast.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm is anticipated to strengthen to be near hurricane strength when it approaches the northern Gulf Coast on Wednesday evening, October 28; parts of Louisiana and Mississippi are now under a Hurricane Warning.
Hurricane preparations are underway for port facilities in New Orleans. The terminal remains open for normal operations, except for all hazardous and live reefer receiving, which was suspended as of 11:30 AM CDT. The terminal will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28, with an anticipated reopening on Thursday, October 29, when the storm has safely passed.
The M/V Nordbaltic completed discharge operations this morning and was partially loaded for its southbound voyage. The ship departed New Orleans early this afternoon as per USCG order. Delays are expected due to Zeta’s trajectory, as this ship keeps a safe distance from the storm.
The M/V Seaboard Atlantic Voyage 391 is currently sailing northbound from Central America to Miami. Keeping a safe distance from Zeta, the vessel’s Miami arrival on Wednesday late afternoon is still expected.
The M/V Seaboard Patriot Voyage 253 is currently sailing southbound to Central America but is delayed due to the trajectory of Zeta, as this ship is also keeping a safe distance from the storm. The vessel is expected to arrive in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, early tomorrow afternoon.
As Zeta’s path continues to develop, we will continue to monitor and provide updates as developments occur.
The safety of our staff, crews, vessels, and our customer’s cargo is of the utmost importance.
We appreciate the patience and support of our customers during this active 2020 Hurricane Season.
