Seaboard Marine wishes to advise its valued customers that we are actively monitoring Tropical Storm Laura and Tropical Storm Marco as they move towards the U.S. Gulf Coast.
A weakened Tropical Storm Marco is approaching Louisiana today, but the Port of New Orleans remains closed. The M/V Nordbaltic Voyage 35 remains delayed until operations return to normal, and the vessel proceeds on its regular rotation.
Tropical Storm Laura is strengthening as it moves throughout western Cuba and heads towards the Gulf Coast with possible landfall later this week in Texas or Louisiana as a hurricane.
Please note the U.S. Coast Guard’s “Laura related” restrictions covering PortMiami were lifted yesterday. PortMiami is fully open and operating normally, but many of our ships have slowed to allow the storms to pass safely. Further, many of our vessels have been delayed due to the challenging weather conditions and recent temporary port closures in many areas, including Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Belize. All foreign ports are now open, though.
As the two storms’ trajectory and strength continue to evolve, we will provide additional updates as developments occur.
Our staff, crews, vessels, and our customer’s cargo are of the utmost importance.
We appreciate the patience and support of our customers during the 2020 Hurricane Season.
