Recently, Seaboard Marine donated the transportation of a Miami-Dade County surplus fire truck to Guatemala. The donation, sponsored by a resolution of approval from Miami Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, was a specialized foam and water dispensing truck from Miami International Airport’s Aviation Fire Rescue Division. The truck was loaded aboard the M/V Seaboard Atlantic and delivered to a local Guatemalan nonprofit organization. In turn, the nonprofit entity donated the emergency vehicle to the Mundo Maya International Airport in northern Guatemala to battle aircraft fires.

Speaking to the Miami-Dade Minute, Diaz said, “We thank so many involved, the Airport Director (Lester Sola), the Seaport Director (Juan Kuryla), Seaboard Marine, A Customs Brokerage, and so many more that are involved.” He added, “To us, it’s an honor to help those who right now need so much, especially during these trying times.”

Seaboard Marine’s Armando Varona, Director of Business Development, said, “Seaboard Marine recognizes we are an essential factor in facilitating trade between South Florida and Guatemala. Supporting both trade and the charitable efforts of our leaders are important responsibilities that impact millions of lives. We are proudly committed to supporting and connecting the communities where we live and work.”
