Seaboard Marine has sponsored La Liga Contra El Cancer (the League Against Cancer) events for the past 22 years as part of our continued commitment to the communities in which we live and operate. Seaboard Marine enthusiastically participated in the Liga Contra El Cancer’s annual telethon this year.
Seaboard Marine once again provided a donation check during Telemundo’s live broadcast of the annual telethon to benefit those in need. Liga Contra El Cancer was created in Miami in 1975 as a community-based, non-profit organization to serve as a cancer intake and treatment facility. Patients determined to be eligible for services receive treatment at no cost. Since its inception, the charity has offered free medical care to more than 511,000 people from 50 nations.
Edward Gonzalez, President and CEO, said, “Seaboard Marine has been a long-time sponsor of La Liga Contra El Cancer, a wonderful organization. Many of our employees and their families have been affected by cancer, and they know first-hand the League’s tremendous work. This South Florida group is dedicated to our community and is frequently able to convert tragedy into opportunity. The League accepts patients of any race, creed, or nationality, whether children or adults. Seaboard Marine is happy to be affiliated with La Liga Contra El Cancer’s fundraising efforts and applauds them for their ongoing outstanding work.”
